Hi everyone!
My name is Lida and I am currently a student
at the College of Southern Nevada. I’m excited to be taking IS101 because
technology is such an important part of everyday life and work. I work full
time and also balance school, so learning skills that make using computers
easier and more efficient is really helpful for me.
So far, my first impression of IS101 has been that it’s
actually pretty cool. I like that the class teaches useful tricks and tools
that I didn’t know before. Even though I’ve used computers and programs like
Microsoft Word for years, I’m realizing there are a lot of features that can
make things faster and more organized once you learn how to use them properly.
The topic I chose from Discussion 2 Part 2 was 3.5.1 –
Formatting Images in Microsoft Word. Before completing the LabSim activity, I
didn’t realize how many options there are for adjusting and formatting images
in a document. I learned how to move images, adjust text wrapping, resize them,
and make them fit better within a page layout. These features can make
documents look much more professional and organized.
Hi Lida, I can imagine how tough it must be to work full time while also going to school. When you are juggling work and assignments, everything has to fit into a very tight schedule. I had the same reaction with IS101 because I thought I already knew how to use Word. Then LabSim shows you there are a lot of small tools that can actually make things faster if you know where they are.
ReplyDeleteThe image formatting part is something I honestly never paid attention to before. Usually I just drag the picture around and hope the text behaves properly. Learning about text wrapping and resizing actually makes documents look much cleaner. It is funny how small features like that can change the whole layout of a document.
I'm very glad to hear your are excited to be taking the class and think it's pretty cool :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, Word has many features that can make a document more organized and professional once you learn how to use the features properly.
Welcome to IS101-3005, Spring 2026, Lida ^_^
Hello Lida, I agree that this class is very beneficial, I also had experience with using Microsoft Word and Excel but not very efficiently. I noticed other people doing things much faster and nicer and now I feel like I can also accomplish task much faster. I still need to practice typing; I type like a snail! I know that working full-time and going to school is tough, my first experience with college I had two jobs and took 4 classes. I was exhausted! I hope you maintain a good balance and don't get overwhelmed.
ReplyDeleteHi Lida! Being able to delegate your time between work and school is no easy task, it's impressive that you're able to. I find it pretty exciting to learn more about computers and Microsoft programs as well. The amount of tools that were in front of my face without me knowing what they were for is astounding. Learning about all of these tools has made some of my papers much more aesthetically pleasing, and easy to manage.
ReplyDeleteHey Lida! I personally struggled a lot with formatting images in word, but with the current context that we have now, it's as simple as two clicks now!
ReplyDeletebest wishes!
Rafa
Hi Lida! It’s great that you’re able to balance full-time work with school. I agree that everything we’re learning with Microsoft applications is very useful, and there’s always more to learn. Learning never stops! I also think formatting images is a skill that can make documents look much more professional, and I’m excited to keep improving in this class like you.
ReplyDeleteLida, your move into the IS101 curriculum shows a clear understanding of how advanced Microsoft Word formatting can help organize professional documents more effectively, especially as you manage the demands of a full-time job alongside your studies at the College of Southern Nevada.
ReplyDeleteFormatting images was one of my favorite lessons from LabSim as that's one of the things I love doing in word. The creative freedom and choices is something fun to learn. More power to you and your tenacity on balancing school and work life.
ReplyDeleteLida, i totally understand your liking in this course as how it truly is insightful and helpful for anyone to learn as we all use some form of technology/electronic on a daily basis. I too was surprised to see just how much options and capabilities there were with simply just formatting an image. I guess there really is more that meets eye with not just the tasks but this class as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Lida, You and me have in common having such a busy schedule, I either go to school then work, school then gym, or gym then school, I've had this schedule to juggle since High School, it feels like a lot to manage so being a busy bee means that hopefully you knock a lot of your plate in time. It's funny that there's a section to format pictures because Professor Wu showed us what else we can do than just putting in an image and words, He's told us what we can do to go the extra mile and the LabSim really does make sure that we have understand all the moving parts that go into formatting pictures, Thanks for informing us and hope all is well!
ReplyDeleteHi Lida, working with college and a full-time job is serious impressive. Make sure you prioritize your health! Good luck with your busy schedule, you're doing great!
ReplyDeleteHello Lida, I have also learned so many new things about Microsoft Word from this class. The formatting images labs were really fun to learn about.
ReplyDeleteHey Lida, technology is indeed an important part of almost everybody's life especially for working and just making tasks easier in general. I think it's impressive how you work full time and still manage to balance your school workloads with it! Good luck with the rest of the semester.
ReplyDeleteHi Lida, I agree technology is an important part of everyday life because everyone uses it, especially nowadays that everyone has a smartphone and computer or internet access. IS101 is designed to make us more comfortable using the computer, especially with Microsoft software, and like you said, programs like Word have a lot of features that can make things faster and more organized.
